This guide covers the most common reasons why Automower® won’t start or keeps stopping, including after winter storage. The causes listed apply both if Automower® stops mid-mow and if it won’t respond to a start command at all.
Pause, stop commands and smart routines
| Cause | Effect | Message | How to restart | Comment |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| STOP button pressed on Automower® | Lawn mower stopped | Stopped — manual action required | An on-site manual restart is required. See How to restart or reset your Automower® robotic lawn mower. | For safety reasons, Automower® cannot be restarted using Automower® Connect or a Smart Home service if the STOP button has been pressed. |
| Pause command sent from Automower® Connect | Lawn mower paused | Paused | Automower® can be restarted manually or using the app or a Smart Home service. | If several users are connected to Automower®, someone other than you may have paused it. |
| Pause command sent from an IFTTT applet | Lawn mower paused | Paused | Automower® can be restarted manually or using the app or a Smart Home service. | Log in to IFTTT to review and adjust your applets. If several users are connected, someone else may have triggered an applet. |
| Smart Routine activated in the Automower® Connect app (Consideration for wildlife, Rain guard or Frost guard) | Mower parked | Parked — with a comment specifying the reason, e.g. “Set by Rain Guard” | Automower® will resume its schedule automatically once the Smart Routine condition no longer applies. | To review active routines, go to More > Smart Home > Smart Routines in the app. |
| Pause command sent from a Smart Home service | Lawn mower paused | Paused | Automower® can be restarted manually or using the app or a Smart Home service. | If several users are connected, someone other than you may have paused it. |
| ECO mode is active | Mower parked | Parked | The loop signal is turned off while Automower® is parked in ECO mode. Follow the steps in the ECO mode article to restart correctly. | Manual starts may be blocked if ECO mode is not handled correctly before sending a start command. |
* By Smart Home service, we refer to Google Home, Amazon Alexa and IFTTT.
Signal and connectivity issues (wire free models)
| Cause | Installation type | Effect | Message | How to restart |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Searching for satellite signal | Via the Husqvarna Cloud or with a local ref. station | Robotic lawn mower stops or won’t start | Searching for satellites | No action needed. Automower® will resume automatically once the signal is acquired. If the issue persists, see EPOS® satellite connection and internet coverage. |
| Lost internet connection | Installed via the Husqvarna Cloud* | Lawn mower stops | No correction data available | Check that internet coverage is available across the entire work area. See EPOS® satellite connection and internet coverage. |
| Lost connection to reference station | Installed with a local ref. station | Robotic lawn mower stops or won’t start | Reference station communication problem |
Check that the reference station is powered and functioning. See Reference station communication problem.
For Aspire™ R6V, 308V and 312V, ensure that the home Wi-Fi network has a stable signal. See Troubleshooting Wi-Fi issues on Automower® robotic lawn mowers.

What this means and what to checkWhen Automower® displays “On the way” or “Going to charging station”, it is travelling to the work area following a guide wire (boundary wire installations) or a transport path (wire free installations). It does not mow during this phase. This is expected behaviour.
If Automower® shows “On the way” but does not move at all:
Check that the path to the work area is clear of obstacles.
Check the app for any active error messages.
Restart Automower® and send a new start command. See How to restart or reset your Automower® robotic lawn mower.
Steps to get Automower® running again after winter storageIf Automower® won’t start after winter, the most common cause is a deeply discharged battery. A battery left uncharged over winter may take several hours to recover enough charge to start.
If Automower® was stored outdoors or in an unheated space, bring it indoors first and let it reach room temperature before charging.
Place Automower® on the charging station and leave it to charge fully. This may take several hours. Do not attempt to start it before the battery is fully charged.
Once fully charged, restart Automower® and check the app for any error messages before sending a start command.
If Automower® still won’t start after a full charge, see Automower® battery and charging: error messages and troubleshooting or contact a Husqvarna dealer.
