Automower® support

Why is my Automower® robotic lawn mower making a buzzing sound?

If your Automower® robotic lawn mower makes a buzzing, humming or vibrating noise during mowing, it’s usually a sign of imbalance in the cutting system.

These are the most common causes and how to resolve them:

1. Two blades attached to one screw

Issue:

Attaching two blades to the same screw creates an imbalance in the cutting disc, resulting in excessive vibration and a buzzing or bee-like sound.

Solution:

  • Check each screw to ensure that only one blade is attached.

  • Remove any extra blades.

2. Dull, chipped or mismatched blades

Issue:

Worn-out or broken blades can create vibrations and an uneven cutting result. Mixing old and new blades or using different blade types can also lead to imbalance.

Solution:

  • Replace all three blades at the same time.

  • Always use new screws when replacing blades.

  • Avoid mixing blade types (e.g. different shapes or weights).

  • Inspect blades regularly and replace them if damaged.

3. Tall or dense grass

Issue:

Cutting overgrown grass puts more strain on the motor and blades, often causing a humming or buzzing sound during operation.

Solution:

  • Adjust the cutting height to a higher setting and reduce it gradually over time.

  • Mow regularly to keep the lawn within the recommended height range for your Automower® model.

If the problem persists after trying the above solutions, please contact your local Husqvarna dealer.
