A secondary area is a work area with no transport path connection to the charging station. Automower® cannot reach it automatically and must be carried or driven there each time mowing is needed. A primary area is any work area that includes the charging station docking point or is connected to it via a transport path.
About the docking point: The docking point is located in front of the charging station and is used by Automower® to navigate to and from it.
For Automower® Aspire™ R6V, 308V and 312V, see How to set up and mow a secondary area with Automower® Aspire™ R6V, 308V and 312V.
For boundary wire installations, see How to create a secondary area in an Automower® installation.
Step 1: Bring the mower to the secondary area
Ensure your mower is connected to the Automower® Connect app via Bluetooth.
Carry the mower to the secondary work area, or drive it there using App Drive: press the Start icon in the app > select App Drive > use the sliders to remote drive Automower® to the secondary area.
Step 2: Map the secondary work area
Open the Maps section in the app and tap the plus (+) symbol.
Select Work area and start the installation process. Map the area by dropping boundary points and driving Automower® clockwise around the perimeter. Tap Done to connect the first and last point. For general guidance, see How to create work areas, stay-out zones and transport paths with EPOS® wire free technology.
When the mapping is complete, the app will prompt you to create a transport path. Tap Not now.
The secondary area is now created.
Delete the automatic schedule: no schedule setup is required for the secondary work area. Since Automower® cannot navigate to it automatically, it must be brought there and started manually each time. Delete the schedule that is automatically created for the secondary area: tap the work area > Schedule > tap the delete icon.
Add stay-out zones if needed.
Step 1: Move Automower® to the secondary area
Lift the mower and carry it to the secondary area, or use App Drive to drive it there.
Step 2: Start mowing
In the app, tap Start.
Tap Select work area.
For irregular mowing pattern: choose the duration for the schedule override. Automower® will mow for the selected amount of time.
For systematic mowing pattern: the app will estimate the mowing duration.
Tap Start.
The message Transport path not found for this area will appear. Tap Start.
Automower® will begin mowing once it has connected to the satellites.
Note: For Automower® models that only support Wi-Fi (not mobile connectivity), all work areas must have stable Wi-Fi coverage for the mower to operate.
Returning after mowing or when battery needs charging
When mowing is complete or the battery needs charging, the message Destination not reachable will appear. This is expected: Automower® is searching for a transport path back to the charging station, which does not exist for a secondary area.
Press STOP on the mower.
Carry Automower® back to the charging station or primary work area, or use App Drive to drive it there.
Use the app to resume the schedule or select the next work area to mow.
