⚠️ SAFETY FIRST
Make sure the chainsaw is turned off and unplugged / battery removed.
Wear gloves to protect your hands from the sharp chain.
Place the saw on a stable surface.
Make sure the chain brake is not activated.
1. Remove the clutch cover
Loosen and remove the bar nuts.
Take off the clutch/side cover so the bar mount area is exposed.
2. Position the guide bar
If you have a brand-new chainsaw, remove the transportation guards first.
Slide the guide bar onto the bar studs as close to the drive sprocket (spur) as possible.
Make sure it sits fully in place on the bar mount.
3. Fit the chain onto the bar
Make sure the cutting teeth face forward on the top of the bar.
Place the chain around the drive sprocket, then work it into the bar groove.
The chain should sit evenly all around the bar.
Hold the bar and move it forward, so you stretch the chain.
4. Reinstall the clutch cover
Put the cover back on, ensuring it aligns with the bar studs and tension pin.
Install the bar nuts finger‑tight, but do not fully tighten yet.
5. Adjust chain tension
Use the tensioning screw to tighten the chain until:
It touches the bottom of the bar, and you can still pull it slightly by hand (with gloves).
The chain should “snap back” into the groove when pulled.
6. Tighten the bar nuts
Fully tighten both bar nuts while holding the bar nose slightly up.
Recheck the tension afterward.
