Grass trimmer and brushcutter start, then die? Causes and easy fixes
If your Husqvarna grass trimmer or brushcutter start but then stop after a few seconds, the engine is usually not getting the right balance of fuel, air or spark.
This is a common issue and is often quick to fix.

Before troubleshooting:
Is there fresh fuel in the tank?
Is the choke set correctly after starting?
Does the engine sound normal before stopping?

Old or incorrect fuel
Fuel that has been stored for too long can clog the system and case the engine to stop.
What to do:
Empty the tank
Refill with fresh fuel
Old fuel can leave deposits that block fuel flow and cause stalling.
Dirty air filter
A clogged air filter restricts airflow, causing the engine to stall.
What to do:
Remove the air filter
Restricted airflow prevents proper combustion.
Fuel supply issue
Fuel may not reach the engine properly due to blockages.

Clogged fuel filter
Dirty carburettor
Blocked fuel line
What to do:
Replace the fuel filter if needed. This should be done by an authorised Husqvarna dealer.
Fuel flow problems are a leading cause of engines starting and then stopping.
Faulty spark plug
The engine may start briefly but fail to keep running.

Inspect the spark plug

Fuel tank vent issue
