• Wire brush for cleaning

• Combi wrench—or a spark plug tool that fits your chainsaw mode.

Spark plug maintenance—step by step

Access the spark plug

• Remove the top cover of your chainsaw to expose the spark plug.

• Carefully pull off the cap and wire from the spark plug.

Clean the area

• Check for any dirt, dust or debris around the spark plug.

• Clean the area to prevent dirt from entering the engine.

Inspect the spark plug

• Look for corrosion, cracks or carbon buildup.

• If the plug is dirty but not damaged, clean it using a wire brush.

Remove the spark plug

• Use your combi wrench and turn counterclockwise to loosen and remove the spark plug.

Clean or replace

• If the plug is in good condition, clean the electrode and the contact post with your wire brush.

• If damaged or worn out, replace it with a new spark plug of the correct type.

Reinstall the spark plug

• Carefully thread the plug back into the engine by hand, then tighten with the wrench.

Reconnect the cap

• Push the spark plug cap and wire back on until it clocks into place securely.
